if this actually occurs then it means the "randomness" is too random, maybe.I like the idea of souls dropping from mobs and mining gold to sell DHX style. Sadly I don't believe it will go that way.
Its annoying to mine 6 veins of diamond only to get 1 medium shard.
I also enjoyed the idea of there ultimetly being a finite amount of money.

The rare ores (diamond/emerald) should drop a lot of them consistently. So its not so much the fact that we're not using gold that isnt working - it may be the implementation. I'm up for changing stuff and making things drop more often. This was a massive test run for custom drops and I think we've learned a lot.
I disagree with gold entirely. it destroys the economy!
THANK YOU I have so much respect for you responding in such a sarcastic tone(if you can even do sarcasm through text)Informative and a serious contribution to the conversation.
Well, I don't think anything is ever perfect and change isnt always bad. This was our first run with a custom economy drop and I believe it would have been better to hybrid-in the gold standard to ease players into it.I think the economy is great as it is. I have to work for my money. It ruins a server to be able to make millions of dollars in a few weeks. The money has actual value. There are times where I mine diamond and get a large soul for each ore, and other times it's nothing.
Now that I think of it, things are fine as they are. The economy is fine, so the drop rate must be fine.
This. In DG and Bastion the inflation was insane because of extra resource maps and the price of goods dropped like a stone. People sat with tens of thousands coins that they were unable to use unless they were working with a town. Even I sat with over 12K at the end of the map even though I only mined for 35 levels as a merchant.I disagree with gold entirely. it destroys the economy!
