Do Enchanters lose level when enchanting items?

I read on the wiki that "Enchantments work exactly as they do in vanilla minecraft", so I'm a bit curious if this means I lose chunks of my Enchanter profession EXP whenever I enchant things? It wasn't indicated on the wiki so this is just to double check. Thanks!

They take off a few tiny bars from your current level.
