Before

In early Dragongarde Disciple was considered broken over powered, which it was. Although it was broken OP it relied on fall damage and reborn. If you couldn't get your fall damage off you would have an extremely hard time and if your reborn was on cool down you had to try and kite. This was when we Disciples practically only used about 4 or 5 skills. We had forcepull/push, ironfist, reborn and sometimes smite would be used.

Changes Made

So many good changes were made to Disciple, although some tweaks may have been bad I am referring to the variety of skills we have the option of using now. Once there was pretty much smite, forcepull/push and ironfist for fighting options but now there are more. Flying kick, quivering palm and tornado kick which added diversity to what a Disciple could do.

The Issue

Somewhere along the line reborn was rendered fairly useless. From it having a 3 minute cool down and restoring 1/2 of your health to 20% of your health on a 15 minute cool down. Disciple also relies so much on fall damage even if that fall damage is only doing 1/2 a heart or less. Due to classes gaining tumble and feather falling IV boots are fairly easy to come by you can negate the fall damage of a Disciple which is a crucial (right word?) for a Disciple.

My Solution(s)

Reborn-We Disciples once relied on reborn but now it is in the position that it doesn't really matter if it is on cool down or not. If it isn't, "Oh cool." What I propose for reborn is this: Keep the cool down at 15 minutes and change the health restored to 1/2 health (give or take) OR reduce the cool down of reborn to 3-5 minutes and keep the health restored at 20%

Smite-I do not have great knowledge on monks/martial art stuff but in my opinion smite doesn't fit with Disciple like it doesn't fit with Bloodmage or like fireball doesn't fit with Necromancer. I propose a new skill to replace smite that you would get at level 1. This skill would be a melee range 'wack' type of thing where it would do 60 damage and slow the target for 1 second (maybe give or take or no slow at all). I propose a new skill all together because at the moment smite is fairly useless in Disciple PvP because it is a waste of mana that could be used on other skills.

I would like anyone's input on this but I am going to tag the mastered Disciples I know of: @STDs4YouAnd4Me , @joshtsai (sorry if you two were tagged twice because I remade this whole post to better explain/express what I think)
And I will take Delf and Kain because it all comes down to them: @Delfofthebla, @Kainzo

I don't really like Reborn. I'm more likely to remove it or replace it with a different skill than I am to try and make it fit better.

As far as the tumble issue--that's by design. Feather falling...well, not so much. This will probably be something we handle better once we get custom items rolling out.

Smite I'm pretty neutral with. I could replace it, I could leave it. If I do add anything, it would really just be the same type of ability with a martial art name or something though to be honest.

Overall, I'm happy with where Disciple is at. It can kill a good amount of classes, and it gets killed by a lot of classes. There are a few tiny tweaks I'd like to make, but overall, I'm good with it.

In a nutshell, I'm still giddy over disciple because of what it has become since the recent patch 2-3 weeks ago. To have forcepull/forcepush never rubberband anymore makes Disciple so much more reliable. Also, forcepush never used to do fall damage on flat ground before, now it does. Iron fist and flying kick also appear to launch players higher, which I'll assume means higher fall damage. All of this is good news for disciples.

Of course, Ranger, Ninja, Runeblade, and Dragoon all have Tumble, and feather falling boots negates all damage for all classes. Is that lame? Yeah, sort of. Is shutting down a pyromancer simply by drinking a fire resistant potion lame? Yeah, it is. Potions should absorb a percentage of the damage, not the entire thing. Feather falling boots should work the same; cut down fall damage, but don't come immune to it altogether. Otherwise a player can gear up/potion up to completely shut down 2 classes all at once. Seems broken to me.

To revisit the Reborn issue, I hate it as well. For a 15min cooldown, its not as great as I'd hope. It's "convenient", but its a meh skill. Having said that, I'm not sure what to replace it with to not turn Disciple into an OP class.

Finally, because of the damage nerf to smite I no longer have it bound. The mana cost itself steers me clear from using it, ever. I still LOVE the idea of increasing Smite's CD to 12-15 seconds, have it do the same amount of damage, but give it the added effect of "for the next 5 seconds your fist of Jin's healing will be 50% more effective." This will force a Disciple to get in as many left clicks as he can for the next 5 seconds, otherwise he just pissed away mana without getting full healing output.

In a nutshell, I like disciple's current state. If I had a wish list it would be that they become more mobile, since that fits the martial arts lore and it feels like every fucking non-healer spec has some form of mobility skill (don't you dare say Safefall is a mobility skill!)

That's my lasagna, eat it.

new disciple skill - reaaaal tornado kick - you kick the air real hard and it makes a tornado wooo wooo. tornado travels slowly in a 10 block line, knocks up and away any entities encountered.

ahaha

What we really need is "Flying Kick" to actually follow its name. right now its a silencing knock-up. I thinking it should be a charging kick that knocks back and silences/stuns. TBH I just want more charging skills. @Delfofthebla Make Charging Skills For Me PLOX!

I plan on keeping reborn - but we may be able to change it to be an activate rather than a passive.

@malikdanab - The grammar in your signature makes me want to die.

@TrueCorruptor - With few exceptions, an apostrophe is used to make something possessive, not plural. Hopefully this helps you get ready for your school year.

The internet is a frustrating place for me.

I too agree that the current state of Reborn is unfavorable. Although I try to avoid using it(it pretty much means the person I was fighting beat me) I can't avoid the usage of it. Would be nice if it was replaced with another skill, STD's idea with the extra healing, and or something else force related.

Eh, it was late at night when I created this post and English in school is not my strong spot (Math and Science are).

I like the activate idea. It could have a warmup so it is not easy to get off but it would be rewarding if you did, but I still think that if it does have a 15 minute cool down it needs to be on par with layhands/harmtouch

Maybe add a lightning bolt and a huge white firework effect when the spell activates. :D

Where's the dislike button when you need it for grammar nazis that do not have a PhD in English?
First off! I hate the term grammar Nazi. It's a stupid internet e-bonics which doesn't even make sense (Why would a GERMAN Nazi care about ENGLISH grammar.) Secondly, he was respectful and gave legitimate advice. Without the Vash avatar, you sir would have been disliked!
