I think alchemists should only be able to brew the potions but not have potion USE restricted to them. I think the use of potions should go something like this:

Rogues with poison potions
Warriors with potions of strength
Healers with potions of instant healing
Casters with potion of speed, fire immunity

Even more in depth, it could be spec restricted like bards with potion of speed and geomancers with potion of fire immunity etc.

Agreed with Daz and Rump. Alchemists shouldn't have any advantage in using potions other than they fact that they are the only ones who can brew them because that would give Alchemists a direct adavantage in pvp which shouldn't be happening.

I think everyone whould be able to use potions (not explosive potions or what it is called).
BUT: The potions should have weaker effect on a low leveled person than a high leveled person, so the effect become bigger whit your heroes level.

To make everyone able to make potions would make alchemist more important, and potions something to trade.

Agree whit Daz, Rump, and GraRona alchemists should not have an advantage in pvp since it is a profession. :p

I think everything should use them, but have them limited for what types they can use on a particular class.

For example, Rogues use poisons, Dragoons use swift/Regens, Ninjas use Swift etc etc.

Though allow everyone to be able to use potions such as Heal and Fire Resistance.

Though alchemists should be able to use all potions as they have to take all that effort to make the things in the first place, as well as finding the resources as well.

I'm for use of potions at level 55, i'll put more on my opinion when im not on my phone
I think this is a bad idea, mostly because not everyone is going to be level 55, and what are the chances that a level 55 is going to have a steady supply of potions for use?

Ontop of that, you're vastly reducing the market scope for the potions as far as selling them goes as only level 55s would be buying them.

I think a Healer(is Druid still even in the game? I would suggest Druid) should be the only ones who can throw the potions and give the buffs and whatnot. So we would see more play with Healers in party's and whatnot.

Look at all the test of the crafter porfs that there are. In general they are thins that can ultimately bennifit themselfs by passing on those bennifits to others.

smiths - repair items
engineer - build redstone items
enchanter - give you those nice enchants
farmer - farm you all that food that you need to survive
merchant - sets up stores where you can buy those things you just can not live without
mason - another crafter that can buid you unique items
miner - can use construct to get you those items you just cant make

now if alchemist is the only one that can use potions then its just a waste really. If your limit it to top level players then you will put some serious discouragement on people trying to level as there will be a huge advantage to those at the top that is insurmountable . If you want to restrict the level of potion to certain levels then thats one things as all other MMOs do the same. Alchemy is self limiting as you need some items that are pretty hard to obtain from the nether. At the moment only a select few can even get there and one group is limiting the access to said items. If those items makes it back to the main world then you can expect to spend a pretty good amount of money on just a simple potion. This craft is self limiting (much more then enchanting) and would not be any more OP or out of balance then enchants are now.

I think that potions shouldn't be used on this server at all, as they disrupt the balance between the individual paths. And from my experiences on many pvp servers, potions are very op in combat and make battles last seconds, which takes some of the fun away. If potions were removed from the game though, alchemists would need another skill to make up for it, which I think could be solved by giving them the ability to enchant items, effectively combining the alchemist and enchanter classes. Just my two cents.

Here is my opinion. I believe that only Specialisations can only USE Potions. However, some potions are restricted for use for certain classes.

For example:
The Potion of Healing potion can only used by a specific Healer Sepcialisation - The cleric.
OR
The Potion of Swiftness potion can only be used by a specific Rogue Class - The Ninja.
OR
The Potion of Strength potion can only be used by a specific Warrior Class - The Dragoon or Samurai.
OR
The Potion of Fire Resistance can only be used by a specific Caster Class - The Geomancer.

Consequently, these potions are basically copies of certain skills like Pray, One and Flameshield. So I'm not sure how to handle that. Since there single-use, they may act as a Last Resort. They might have multiples of the potions so I reckon a Limit of Potions in the inventory?

I reckon though that all upgrades of the primary potions should be restricted to all except the Alchemist. They will be likely to overpower classes in general if all the specialised classes had access to powerful potions.

Hopefully I've contributed enough. :)

no, if you leave the fire resistance to only geomancer would make that class quite op since most attacks of the caster are fare based.

I feel that potions should not be restricted to alchemists, but higher tiered potions should be restricted to specs of all levels. Also, there should be a lengthy cooldown after using a potion in which you can't use any potions. Otherwise, they would be too overpowered.

The problem with having alchemist only, is that it would give a profession a combat advantage...

Everyone should be able to use potions, Only allowing alchemists to USE potions would most likely cause alot of people to go alch and neglect other professions. And why wouldnt alchs want to be able to sell there potions  Thats a HUGE market. Reguarding potion use, It should be a Path/Spec level based thing, The higher your level the better the potions.

Alchemists are the only ones permitted to make potions however, I believe the use of them should be limited by Specializations. Such as:

Healer = Healing Potions
-Bloodmage= Potion of Fire Resistance
-Cleric= Potion of Regeneration
-Druid= Potion of Water Breathing
-Disciple= Potion of Leaping

Caster = Mana Potions
-Wizard= Potion of Swiftness
-Geomancer= Potion of Harming
-Necromancer= Potion of Fire Resistance
-Beguiler= Potion of Dullness

Warrior = Strength Potions
-Samurai= Potion of Blindness
-Dragoon= Potion of Leaping
-Dreadknight= Potion of Weakness
-Paladin= Potion of Nausea

Rogue specs = Poison Potions
-Ninja= Potion of Invisibility
-Thief= Potion of Blindness
-Ranger= Potion of Night Vision
-Bard= Potion of Haste

*All are examples.

If were going for the mmorpg aspect of it then limiting the use of potions to specific classes would be stupid. Thats my input

I think it should be JUST alchemists. It makes the profession more useful. Plus, every potion can be altered to become an area of effect potion that the alchemist can use on others. Granted this makes an alchemist more like a party necessity but so what, that's kind of the point being that all potions are most helpful when fighting. If everyone could use potions people would be able to stock up massive amounts and potentially ruin a source of income for alchemists once they're supplied. If only alchemists could use potions then alchemists would ALWAYS have some importance. Also I completely disagree with the statement "everyone will be one (alchemist) and dodge all other professions (if only alchs could use potions). That makes no sense at all. Some people do very little to no pvp and prefer to play a more genuine minecraft experience, like myself. I will always be a miner, not because the other professions don't interest me, just because I simply enjoy mining... Make every profession important, don't let non-alchemists do what alchemists can, the same way non-enchanters can't do what enchanters can.
