Caster skill idea

Hey! I'll keep this short.


So I had an idea for a caster skill that would probalby be good for a Beguiler (since they are "illusionists")


Think of the way the Necromancer's Web skill works, it spawns a cross of webs at the feet of the target temporarily. So, why can't we do the same thing with cacti? (with the sand underneath required to place cacti).

You could trap your target in a little coffin of cacti, which could do a reasonable amount of damage if the target was moving when the spell landed which. It won't do THAT much damage, but it could set the Beguiler and his/her party to do more skills afterwards in combo.

Just a thought :p

make it so that the blocks under the person are changed to sand (for the moment) and grow a cactus. When the skill is over, the sand and cacti will disappear.

Yeah that's what the Necromancer's web does, just with webs. However it only replaces open air, not blocks that are in the way. So it would have to have some of the properties of the miner's "Light" skill, where the floor beneath the target (in light's case, the caster) becomes sand so it can do it's web-like thing with the cacti.

Is that even possible @Sleaker? Just an idea ;p

The feel I get from staff regarding block-changing skills is "they're possible, but you have to be careful because you don't want to lag the server."

As far as this particular skill, I love it. Perfect for Beguilers. I hope they get more alteration-style skills like this and Piggify in the future.

we don't like doing block-encasing skills cause they prevent anything happening to the player while it's active. Also have issues with some of the logic on them and allowing players to simply break out through the bottom etc. They can be solved, but it's not about lag and more about how it disrupts the flow of combat.

How about a skill that makes them look like a donor using /hat with cacti and make them take damage over time, some blindness, and maybe some slowness? Would that be more acceptable?

I just have a thing for cacti ;)
