Bill S. 978 - Could end game play streams and other self made media uploads

This bill could impact much of the things we love and do with personally created gaming media. It's intent is to stop people from uploading full movies and tv shows, music videos and such, but the wording is so vague and open that it can also include things like let's play videos, making cool videos of your minecraft world, the video of Xani & Angro getting it on with a heart shaped bed... etc. It even extends into the public forms where if you recorded a video of your friends goofing round with some 'copy written' content playing in the background, it could be considered illegal. Take a peek at this video and read up on this bill. It's up to us to make sure we protect ourselves and our right to create content using the games we love.

While I am Canadian, and can't really take direction action to this bill, I know that a lot of lawmakers in Western civilization take cues from each other. Reading the bill, I know this isn't the Seventh Trumpet of the Machinimalocolypse, but actions like these are unsettling, and if my American friends can take the time to voice their opinion on the matter to their regional representatives, I would encourage them to do so.

Law in total is a f*cked up system. EVERYWHERE on the planet! Literally! You could get done for child pornography for having a picture of your naked child, aged around 3, in a bath. You can sue a company for tripping over a box YOU PLACED because you were not trained for box moving, despite if your hurt or not.

This sucks so much. Law is out of order. I hope that this law does not come through. HOWEVER - I do agree with the movie and TV show producing, I think that should stop, it has had a major affect on the industry!

No, but seriously. This is why we can't have nice things. Who the hell cares if a let's play is on youtube? Someone has the game and they are LEGALLY RECORDING FOOTAGE of it. Such unfathomable bullshit. Law Enforcement should be apprehending thieves, murderers, and rapists, not busting some guy who makes LP's for fun.
