As for light sources, my town, Freyrham, produces more pumpkins than we possibly know what to do with. I usually make them into Jack'O'Lanterns for light sources -- the benefit is that they work under water, too! I can supply pumpkins to road builders. Just contact me in-game.

Combined with a dirt platform and reeds, the Jack"O'Lanterns can make a nice underwater road -- I have been experimenting with this up near Freyrham.

Anyhow... I hereby propose the formation of a new Guild, the "HeroCraft Department of Public Works." Who's in?

You are referring to the Rapture highway that me and Nightroado built. It goes all the way to spawn and will soon be connected to the LO roadways. This will make travel between LO towns much easier to navigate then constantly having to go over hilly and mountainous terrain. I already told you that your castle was right next to Rapture as well I like your idea of building roads across the map, but let me tell you this. Simply building a road from Rapture to spawn cost a lot of cobble and time. Not only did we have to lay all the cobble, we also had to break and mine through all the hills and mountains in our way. Nightroado was the original creator of the project but then started on Rapture's dragon and soon forgot about it. I then finished it up for him. Good luck in your endeavors!
