Reason you should be accepted:
I play Minecraft for a lot of reasons. I do enjoy PvP but usually I am not one to instigate PvP. I have always preferred "Taking softly but carrying a large stick". The main reason I really got in to Minecraft (in it's Non-modded form) was the implementation of redstone. I joined after it came out, but during when there was pretty much only redstone torches and redstone wire (disregarding doors, and other gadgets that can take power). As such I've learned the fundamentals of creating redstone contraptions to an almost scary level. Of course this is my own opinion; but, that is one thing I will bring to this server. Very good knowledge of redstone, redstone circuitry, and the ability to make grand scale things with it.
I have read your rules and am very willing to follow them. I am a bit confused about the "Must ask admins about large-scale redstone workings" though. I don't know what you'd consider large scale, but Ill assume anything to do with Pistons, Dispensers, etc would fall under the category.
How did you hear about Herocraft?:
I heard about Herocraft from my friends who recently applied to the server, from them telling me how it sounded. I researched around the wiki and was impressed very much by your hero mod-- i've played on servers before who've had it, and handle it terribly. Coming from a pretty strong MMO background, I can say their balance was almost nonexistant and their skills were very basic and not imaginative at all. The first impression I had when I researched yours was that it was much more calculated and took much more into account.
Have you voted for Herocraft (No? Click here)?:
No, because my friend who recently applied and has been accepted voted while he was at my house and it wont let me vote using the same IP again.
Additional Info:
I am a video game enthusiast; in fact I enjoy pretty much every realm of video games. I'm much more of a computer gamer, though. The games I play currently are Minecraft and League of Legends, but I come from a background of mostly World of Warcraft. I have also invested time in games like Gunbound, Starcraft I and II, but not as much as the three games listed above.
I aspire to be a video game developer when I graduate. As such I'm currently learning Java and C++ To prepare me for that. I've applied to colleges under the majors of Computer Science and Software engineering, and will enjoy pursuing either of those degrees. That being said I'm a very very inexperienced, but aspiring coder. I did not mention it earlier because I know both languages at a very basic level and probably could not help you. That being said, I'd LOVE to try to help if you ever had any ideas for me, as anything I could do to flex my newly gained coding experience would help me tremendously.
I enjoy music very much and have been meaning to try my hand in making some, but that's more of a side thing for me at this point. I also enjoy drawing IRL and in Photoshop/Flash.
Edit: I heard it helps to add pictures, so here are some of some redstone things ive built.
The one I am showcasing is pictured above (or at least the wiring of it). Basically it is designed to give our castle on this particular server only one entry point, and constrict the hallways to a 2x2 walkspace. In this walkspace I have rigged Traps of many different sorts. The one you see above is connected to a Flip-Flop, meaning that once you step on the pressure plate it gives free reign to the flickerer you see above. This makes the pistons in front of me flicker back and forth very very quickly, making it nearly impossible to traverse through the hallway.
This is a picture of one of the hallways people would have to walk through. I've put pressure plates on every block so the intruders cannot tell which blocks are traps and which are not. You can see the entrance in the dead center on the left wall, and some dispensers that are used.
Finally, this is the device directly under the entrance of the castle. We wanted the castle to be traverse-able, so this is the traps on/off switch. When it is reset (from the main room of our castle), none of our traps set off, making the castle entirely navigable by people living there. Though, when someone walks in the front entrance (Something people in our faction never had to do because of the faction-wide sethome feature on the server) all the traps immediately turn on, ready to spring. Not only this, but it also alerts people in the castle via a torch either on/off in the main room of the castle, and retracts one of the main staircases people would need to get up into our castle. Not only that, but it seals off our main room with a very stealthy piston door that makes it look like there is simply just a wall on one of the corridors. To this date, this high-tech castle set up is one of the most elaborate things i have built, but I have the means and knowledge to build much more. This was built mostly for the utility of it rather than the flashyness of redstone, and proved to be pretty helpful to our survival on the server.
