Allow Void Fog setting in Spoutcraft

So apparently those fortunate enough can simply remove void fog and greatly increase their view distance with Optifine. We allow Optifine.

Spoutcraft however is unable to remove void fog. Its a server setting. When then mouse highlights over the spoutcraft setting for void fog it tells me the server thinks this is a cheat. Really? Why allow optifine if Spoutcraft calls me a cheater for wanting this?

Void fog is great for...well nothing if not a bad attempt at Role playing but really it ruins any sort of extreme low level dwelling.

I think it would greatly improve a few things by allowing us to use the Remove Void fog setting in Spoutcraft.

Unless somebody can link me a way to get Imp Chat, Optifine and Minecraft enhanced x128 texture pack to work :-D. I've tried Installing Opti, Imp Chat (in that order) select the texture pack and when I get into game...as soon as I move its a crash report, something involving Imp Chat.

Overall with the Cool mana bar and the future of Spout growing I think the void fog setting Spout offers would be much more beneficial to allow us the option to chose.

Thank you.

Void fog is needed. its built into the game as fog is, for a reason.
Optifine allows for a zoom button as well which mimics the ranger skill that allows them to zoom and spot at long distances. whats the point if everyone has it?

What about those that cant run or use optifine? they have void fog and you come running along and can see them from further out then they can and it give you an advantage cause you installed a mod.

fair? right?

I wish you could disable lots of options from server, so players would be even across the board. Then its truely skill on skill... ( in a dream world.)

Just saying, you cannot mod Spoutcraft at all :p

It just simply doesn't work. If you have to replace any files in the spoutcraft.jar (what spout actually uses), then you have broken something :p

Texture packs should work fine though.

Needed? WTF r u talking about. Needed for what? Annoyance? Its only been a part of the game for a few months and all its done is bother and annoy. You like it and want it in the game? That's completely your singular view and opinion. Its entirely stupid. I cannot see a logical reason to have Void Fog what so ever. The deeper you go the less you can see despite the amount of light or torches you have? Hell I think it should be a miner skill that allows you to see without void fog......or an ability everybody should have.

If Jeb reduces the build height limit or causes players to have massive sun glare outside what....you going to say that's needed too? Its just something Notch added. It is not needed.

Yes it is very unfair that many can remove fog and zoom in but others cannot. Simply because they can't get optifine working.

I never asked to mod Spoutcraft.

I asked if Kainzo could simply uncheck a server setting that stops spoutcraft from dissabling void fog.

Also. I have a very nice HD texturepack working. That's not the issue. I never said I couldn't get the texturepack to work with Spoutcraft. I said in combination with Improved chat, Optifine and Minecraft Enhanced 128 I cannot get Minecraft to work.

Edit Note: I have the capacity to argue both sides. I chose not to in this case. I do not need anybody telling me what they think of some importance blah blah. I posted this in the suggestion thread for a reason. There's a problem that needs to be fixed and its the easiest of all. Don't come here to debate with me. That's not what this thread is for.

wrong. You can do just as much with Spoutcraft as you can with Vanilla, and the majority of modding with Spoutcraft is easier.

On the subject of void fog, I find it highly annoying that I can't increase my view distance. The server will only send entity locations up to a max distance anyway, so it's not exactly an issue of seeing people before others.

In fact.. If you use spoutcraft People's titles show up like sore thumbs, and this is intended.

in addition.. Jeb will most certainly be removing the void fog because it has received so many negative comments.

Got Optifine working with Improved chat and my texturepack. Seems the files were corrupt and downloading from the original sources did the trick. Still...void fog is ghey :-D.

Hmm you sure @Sleaker ? coz I did a little research a while ago, when i wanted to switch to playing with spoutcraft, and I thought that one of the spout admin says that if I had to replace any files, it would be broken. I could be wrong though, as I'm sure you are far more experienced than me :p

The main problem is the majority of decent mods use mod loader, and mod loader isnt compatible with spoutcraft

So @Sleaker I found the post I saw!

Wulfspider on the Spout Forums said:
Rei's minimap actually replaces a Spoutcraft class file, so you've already broken something, you just haven't noticed it yet. I recommend using a Spoutcraft addon such as bMiniMap instead. The same applies to other client mods, if there are conflicting classes and you've overwrote one of the ones Spoutcraft uses, you're broke something. ;)

Spoutcraft client addons will be possible to be installed/downloaded when the server tells it to once that feature is available, but not random mods that aren't Spoutcraft addons.
