    I haven't really had a problem finding mobs. Make sure you're looking at night :p I think there's some kind of cap for the number of mobs in Bastion, so you have to wait until some are killed for more to be spawned. This takes a little patience sometimes. If you are able to get a butcher...

    If you want to have a pretty door, then just put a dirt "airlock" behind it. This preserves the aesthetic benefit of a door, and it keeps intruders out. Problem solved. If the admins can't regulate this due to a Vanilla issue, then this will have to be the solution.
