Meaning for Dispoasble Hero?

I've always pondered this but what is the true meaning of the Disposable Hero?

I don't remember who explained this to me before but I want to hear from the public what they think.

That's a terrible website - its been inactive because the only games we've been playing are shooters/freebased MMO's

Anyways. Disposable Heroes is the thought that you are heroic but also all disposable. The name largely is based off of Metallica and their song but its also a personal view on what it means to be a hero. Praise you one minute - condemn you the next, type thing.

From a gaming perspective, one of my cousins and I deemed ourselves Disposable Heroes back in EverQuest while playing on the Rallos Zek server. We would fight off the PK'ers in the newbie areas by recharging our Harm Touch by "suiciding" at the guards (attacking them) - It was quite the fun times.
