Suggestion Legendary Diamond Axes

I will never understand why it was decided to make all the legendary axes gold. In my opinion it was one of the most absolutely stupid decisions made. Axes already break twice as fast as swords, and so you make the legendary axes out of the least durable material? Hoe is fine, they never break, but axes are the least durable weapon on the server(And spears). I've been offered Greataxes of Slaughter many times now and I always turn them down. Why would I pay 200-350s for something with like 22 durability after factoring in unbreaking enchantment?
