Herocraft Meeting Notes - 6/18

A

Alente1

Howdy folks, here's a summary from today's meeting. The raw transcript can be found here (thanks for pasting that Figgis)

Enjoy ;p

Townships:

Townships now require special buildings to advance
Only the Town Hall will be PvP disabled in any township
The township plugin is still in development
Child regions have yet to be adapted to the upcoming township plugin
Township taxes will be handled via the plugin and DHX
Township citizen requirements are being lowered (Please note this applies to requirements after the town has been formed to maintain it)
Township rings will not be made available until the plugin is released.

Economy:

The DHX will be coming up in the very near future.
DHX will now buy items besides just gold.
The DHX will attempt to avoid price setting the economy, prices will be adjusted as per inflation and market conditions.

PvP:

Townships are not designed to allow complete avoidance of PvP
PvP lag is being addressed as time permits, this process is largely trial and error so patience is encouraged.
A plugin to prevent players from insta-logging out of PvP will be developed however this is not an immediate priority.
Crafters are encouraged to hire protection, they will not be a viable class in PvP.

MultiWorlds:

Nether and Skyworld are penciled down for release in the coming weeks.
The nether will be accessible using the Necromancer "Hellgate" ability.
Skylands will be a floating area hovering above the void, navigation here will be dangerous.
Skylands will be auto-generated with seeds.
Warshard has been discontinued with the release of Heroes.
Nether will award bonus XP.

Herogates:

Herogates will be making a return with a total of four gates. NW/NE/SE/SW
Initial cost will be 25-50C
Gates will be placed in Zeal in the direction they transport players to.
T5+ will have free herogate usage.
Gates will have a small PvP protection around them - camping is allowed however.

Spires/Druid Rings

There will be three spires around the map that Wizards will be able to teleport their group to
Druid rings will function in a similar way for Druids - Druid rings will be located in different areas than Wizard spires.
Spires/Rings will not be PvP protected
Recall/Beds will be limited once Spires/Rings are in.

Lag:

Lag/tickrate is constantly being worked on, patience is appreciated.

New niche-market servers:

In the coming months we intend to release 2-3 new server styles that will not coincide with the main Herocraft realm.
These new servers will be: No-PvP, PvP/Chaos and Zombie Survival
These new servers will all be capped at 20-30 players
These new servers will have new staff, new ranks, new donor tiers and new reserve lists. They are entirely seperate from the main realm.
Details to be ironed out closer to release

Map Size:

Current map size is 2,500R
Map size will gradually be increased as player caps and land demands increase.
This will be partially done to keep the building environment vibrant without continuous map wipes, it also permits new resources to be injected into the economy.
The map will not be increased in the immediate future.

Donor Ranks/Abilities:

T4+ will have personal regions (number still being adjusted) which may or may not cost coins/blocks.
Realms will not be making a comeback.
The township plugin will handle town regions rather than personal regions.
While donors are important server balance and health has always and will always take priority.
Hats will be returning!
Vaults are being redesigned to compensate for poor Minecraft coding, we ask for patience regarding that.
Each new tier still grants the perks of all previous tiers.
T6 perks have already been mentioned (Increased LWCs, in-chat colors, droptransfer.
Name changes will be discussed on the forum.
Donor abilities are subject to change without notice at any point in time.
T6 can be expected within a week.

Heroes - Balance:

Permissions and its bugs (sneak/recall/mark/etc playing up) will be addressed.
Mason/Engineer will not be merged.
If logging does not give you XP as a crafter please redmine it.
Crafters will eventually gain XP from crafting items.
EXP for bandaging/skills are ready to roll out however plugin issues are currently holding this up - it will be addressed.
Initial paths still have a 50% XP boost that is not given to specializations - this is by design.
Invuln has had its cooldown adjusted.
Dragoons will have increased shovel damage.
Ninjas/Thiefs/Beastmasters can expect some love soon.
When Heroes' content is complete each spec is likely to have 6-10 abilities.

Heroes - Leaderboards:

Expect Heroes leaderboards and a Web interface in the future
These will be used to track player levels/specializations/etc
Kills may be tracked with this system also.
Heroes - Damage/HP:

Heroes - Damage/HP:

Health/Weapons/Armor values will be adjusted in the near future on a per-class basis in Heroes.
These adjustments are being down to improve balance and slow down PvP a bit making it more enjoyable than a two-second rush.
Diamond weapons will have their damage reduced.
Food will be changed to remain useful with new HP values.
Healers will become more desirable under these changes.
Monsters will be made more difficult.

Texture-Pack Contest!:

A contest to create an official Herocraft Texture pack between 16/32bit.
Expect a forum post regarding this soon.

Quick question, what is the droptransfer perk for donor?
It allows for an LWC chest to be linked with your inventory in a way in that you can activate the drop transfer and whenever you drop an item it teleports that item to the LWC chest until it is full.

So this effectively eliminate losing loots from PvPing or dying?

Or is it just a way for you to pretty much have a mobile LWC chest with you at all time?

From what Kainzo said ingame he did not want it to apply on death, so a tombstone type system would be applied or some other work around would be activated so it didn't activate when you died. It is more of a mining/general tool for transferring items from your inventory to a chest quickly.

Couldn't make it to the meeting....was out. Looks like some good stuff was discussed though. I like the way townships are heading right now :).

Then re-enable creeper terrain damage. If people can't be arsed to light up their areas or to put up a better defence than a 1-thick cobble wall, that's their fault.
Yes! Creeper booms are coming back :) - Also we can track who set off the creeper via LogBlock, woo?
