Are there many lvl 50 smiths at this point? How much would you charge to repair gold armor, weapons, etc.?

There are many level 50 smiths, my alliance alone has 5.
As for pricing it will depend on your timing and smith but it's usually 5-10 for unenchanted or lost enchants and 10-15 on a saved enchant if I am not mistaken. Per item and with mat provided of course. If you have 100 items I am sure your smith would work out a deal.
So as a smith for hire, How many items do you need repaired?

I was just trying to gauge prices to see if it was worth making gold armor/swords. It would be quite expensive to do this without repairing the items.

Only if you are great at your class and are on your way to an event. Gold items are usually not worth the durability for prolonged fights or multiple fights.
