Here are some small (i hope) changes you could make to the chat plugin that would make life easier.
1. Colour the private messages in a bright colour like #c so that it is easier to distinguish between msg and other channels.
2. Bring back the "Channel joined by X" so that we can see who is joining our town channels. I don't know how it works but if possible you specifically set this to happen only in town and private channels, if you didn't want it in public channels.
