Town Region & Sub-Region commands?

I know there are some commands on the wiki, but it seems there should be a way to choose multiple points for a sub-region (especially since we have polygons for towns) and I am looking for those commands.

also, is there a way to give people access to entire town and just minus out a couple of sections?? I think that would be much better/easier than creating a bunch of subregions. I have tested it though and it doesnt work, not sure if it was intended or not...

thank you for any help!

I've heard this suggested as a strategy: Create a subregion that covers the whole town and give everyone access to that. Then create other smaller subregions to which some people do not have access.

Would that work?

You can only select two points.

Yes, that is the way it would work. If you are on the main town region, you will have access to all sub regions.

Create a blanket region with no one on it, then create other sub regions for plots. Add citizens to only plots or something to that effect. You would also need to create regions over the doors, or just add every citizen to the blanket region.

So the smaller subregions don't have the overall subregion as a parent, do they? The parent is the Town region?

actually, any region can have a subregion and any subregion can have a snother subregion... Daki and I were testing though and if I give Daki perms to the town region and subtract a subregion, he still has access to the subregion...

if I remove access to the town region and just give him access to the subregion, that works fine.

but if the town is a polygon, how are you going to select 2 points to cover the entire region? I assume the points must be within the region but perhaps they dont? because the only way you could select the entire region would be to select 2 points to make a square that would encompass all of the town region...

so I tried this, and you have to make the subregion within the parent-region of course I should know that... so how are we then supposed to make subregions when all we can make are squares and the town region is, again, a polygon?

@Kainzo any input on this please? :)

I plan on updating the wiki for subregions very soon. Kayhn and I have been doing extensive testing with them in Amunet. We also figured out how to select a 20 sided polygon. Kainzo and Danda (and possibly Gabizou) are looking into a possible permissions fix for the //expand #UP #DOWN command as that is the only thing we are currently in need of to get it to work. As I said, once that gets fixed, I'm going to overhaul the Subregion wiki with Kayhn and we'll include all commands, information about priority stacking, etc. So stay tuned!

What we have done thus far is we have our main town region as the parent. Only managers and up are on that. We then have a few regions that intersect and cover most of the town that is for everyone (new town members and up; when we do town invites, this is what they get access to. You can then use priority stacking to make individual subregions that are of a higher priority that the 'main' region(s). When you do this, those people will have access to the 'main' region(s) but not the ones that are higher priority (should you choose to set it up that way). Cheers!

As I said, we can make 20 sided polygons (which is very near being able to cover the whole town with one shape. We are working with Kainzo and the others to get a fix for the //expand command, as currently it denies permission to Successors and Mayors to be able to expand that polygonal selection.

Anyone that has access to the parent region (the one named after your town) will have access to all subregions no matter what priority they are set as. I.E. The parent region will always be at the top of the priority list.

@Kayhn (Figured I'd tag you in on this conversation since we've been doing it together.)
