I did up a quick grid in creative for all the township sizes. I didn't realize just how big the regions are! No chunks outside the screenshot would even load, 21x21 chunks.
Also with some quick math and if it is correct, the capital region should cover some 20 million blocks!

Correct - we are more than generous on how large the area's actually are and this is exactly why towns cant be placed too close.
