Surrounding LWC's with Junk

So, my friend and I have a LWC outside of spawn with a furnace and workbench for a quick resupply during events. After today's events, we came back and it was covered with sand, cobble, and dirt.

Either a random person came up and covered it with that stuff, hoping to catch us, or one of my irl friends who have access to that chest covered it up, and a really doubt it was a friend.

So, what's the deal with this?

EDIT: To specify, this thread is just asking why people cover up lwc's with scrap material.

I'm not sure how this pertains to LWC? LWC does not protect the surrounding area of a chest...

Yeah I know, this thread is more like a question to question why people add sand and stuff around an lwc.

Yeh, its illegal and I can only reply with... people are dumb.

If it happens again, get me or another Guide. We can at least check who it was so you can petition them and keep an eye out.
