It's like, he had to make a crafting table to produce cobblestone via wooden pickaxe, but if he got that far he'd obviously be able to make a sword, since he still had both sticks and cobble. He asked a bunch of retarded ass questions, fortunately I tried to sum it up with this and a simple "Do not do this in Tour: link" reply. lol... mean I know but damn some people are dumb!!

I understand we don't want to coddle all new players, but the responses given to people in tour chat lately has usually been "Read the wiki." The sad part is, this comment is usually given by a Guide! Kind of seems like someone is just phoning in the help instead of being, you know, a guide.

The reality is Herocraft is a server people that just bought Minecraft can log in to. A lot of new players hear good things about Minecraft Multiplayer and the notion of a FPS with classes/skills/levels/builder/NOT pay to win/etc. is very appealing to many players. We're going to have Johnny Noob show up fresh out of the water asking questions like this. As decent players, don't we owe them the benefit of our experience? If you disagree, than please just leave tour chat.

Noting personal just my two cents.

The whole point of the picture was to explain my view of it, not what was actually said between I and said user, however I did mention the wiki then proceed to help him regardless. Also, I'm a dick. But, there were equal number of dicks with full white text for usernames.

I agree with you - we need to welcome new players - I may give the response "google it" but guides/players shouldnt follow my horrid footsteps ;)

Hey, doesn't it depend on what's being asked?

If it's "how do I chose a class?", then tell them the command, talk them through the class choices if they ask.

If it's "what skills does a particular class have?", then tell them the command to find out AND send them to the wiki, eh? (After all, when they know their way to the wiki, they'll be able to learn faster and get to having more fun more quickly.)

But it's HOW you speak to newbs that's most important, I reckon, not only what you say. Even the most capable player can make mistakes or miss the point, and everyone deserves respect.

The big issue here I reckon is the impression new players get of the server. And what they tell their friends... ;)

LOL THANK YOU DRAGONZERO!

My point wasn't so much that; it's that I try to tell a guy 15 times how to do something and they're too stupid to read it, and then when i finally get his attention he said some retarded shit like, well I got sticks and cobblestone, how do make sword, and i tell him to use a crafting bench and that he should probably go read the *MINECRAFT* wiki to learn more about the game, then read the *HEROCRAFT* wiki if its his first time playing a multiplayer server. Then he says he knows how to make a sword but doesnt have a crafting bench.. so I'm sitting there, like utterly facepalming, because he's too stupid to go look around and find one, or punch a tree. (much less, he was stealing items from chests which requires right clicking. I'm pretty sure right clicking a chest requires as much brainpower as figuring out, "Hey moron! You need to EXPLORE your world! You're in a 3 dimensional sandbox game now!")

Both are solid advice, and i never skipped the part where I was just trying to help first. He just didn't accept it the first time, the second time, the third time, the fourth time.. and so on.. and kind of just kept spamming tour like a retard.

PS.

Pretty sure I'm the only one who calls themselves names like moron when they are being one. (inside my own head, that is)

Noobs annoy me when they join the server and expect to have diamonds thrown at them by admins or something.

It's not really the player's fault - to be honest. Blame the poor server owners who do this to try and capture as many players as possible for the hope of having more donations.

I blame shitty servers. We try to hold the standard higher - thus capturing higher quality players and in a hope of having a better community and less fickle users.
