Bug Stronghold Missing from Shrine

I took the time to follow my trusty eyes of ender to the exact location of where a Stronghold should have been (527x -407z as the eye showed), dug from the sky to bedrock, and came up empty. There was no sign that someone had already found it and that it had been excavated already.

I had taken a townmember along with me on said quest to show her a new aspect of Minecraft that she had not yet been exposed to. Sadly, our quest was a failure, but at least the scenic amplified world was nice. :)

I wanted to inquire because I know that certain levels of town upgrades require mossy stone brick, which are rare and cannot be crafted. If indeed Strongholds are missing from Shrine, please take the absence of an essential town ugrade material into account.

Thanks,

-yav

Danda confirmed to me the other day that Shrine had structures turned off.. so indeed, NO structures of any kind will be found on Shrine... I do not understand why and I, too, have never seen a stronghold, nor do I even know how to find one. hehee

But imho, I do not think it was fair to turn off structures. I think it is way too hard as it is with the soul decrease to get money.... and I know it is plannned that way so that pvp peeps cannot come over level and farm for money and then go back to Haven, but for those of us who are building on Shrine, it seems as though we are being punished.... heh

thats just my 2 cents....

The builders and pvers of Herocraft have always been punished.

Structures were turned off at an attempt to not have dungeons spawn - so the mob-grinders wouldnt work and/or lag the server.

Obviously, this did not prevent them from spawning but there is no turning back at this point. We may place a stronghold or two, but they would be pasted in with worldedit and would not be "actual" strongholds.

For what it's worth, mossy stone generates on the surface in some biome (jungle, I think?) I don't know how much of it you need for towns, but I pulled nearly 5 stacks of it out of one area yesterday (-525, -1050) and that was probably only a tenth of the mossy stone that was in that area. And there are probably more biomes of that type elsewhere on the map, it's pretty damn big.

I've also ran into 1 or 2 monster spawner rooms underground, which have mossy stone in their floors.

Joey, is this Mossy Stone (CobbleStone) or Mossy Stone Brick? there is a difference between the two. I have found Mossy Stone of the cobble variety in jungle biomes as well as in dungeons. However the Mossy Stone Brick i have only even seen in Strongholds.

Yea to combat the issue of not having Mossy/Cracked Stone brick on Shrine we could either use Kainzo's suggestion, create a cauldron recipe to make it or remove it from the upgraded town requirements.

are the money requirements going to be reduced at all? seems horribly hard to get any money on Shrine :(

Server populations are low in both Haven & Shrine (which tends to happen with server splits), and a consequence is that the activity of both Trade Districts are low. This is especially present in Shrine, and is being felt by all vendors. I know that I'm down over 10,000 souls in the last two weeks just to develop a presence in Shrine and get some shops set up. I don't envision recouping that deficit through the Trade District any longer, and will have to rely heavily on mining to regain the costs incurred. With the reduced drops of Shrine, mining will produce a fraction of the souls that it will in Haven. As Shadow said, this will definitely put a damper on the development of cities in Shrine, at least until the vitality of HC improves. Hopefully the advancements in PvP-related enhancments will benefit the Haven side; we will have to be creative in order to empower the Shrine side in its own unique way. Until then, Personal Regions shall remain king, and town development will be slow.

It might be nice to shift the town requirements a bit to be more specific to Shrine. Shrine is a beautiful, kinder, happier, and less contentious place. Maybe adding to the town requirements by requiring 100 daisies, rose bushes, orchids, and each of the other flowers would be more fitting instead of the high quantity of souls required in Haven. ;)

if the cost is reduced will those of us that already paid 5k for regions get a refund at all?

The soul costs of townships will be reduced on Shrine (and Haven) - just need to get it set up.
Honestly the base cost for townships in terms of coin on Haven is fine and doesn't need to be reduced IMO. We're already at half the coin cost from last map it doesn't need to be reduced further. But if you're talking about town upgrades then yes the costs definitely need to be reviewed and updated once the new township plugin is released.
