It's so stupid how someone can join your town, get region access, steal as much as they can, then leave. It isn't very hardcore at all. As a mayor, I can't even begin to tell you how annoying it is that you cannot trust anyone that joins your town.

I believe stealing from your own town should be made illegal.

I disagree, this has been put forward multiple times, and rejected too. it is very hardcore, as it means that it is up to you to judge the character of anyone joining ur town, and make sure that they are the sorta citizen that you would like in your town.

It's pretty easy to obey the rules and do no wrong for a test period, before robbing your new townsfolk blind.

It's just a way of getting around the regioning system in order to steal for profit, or just to grief.

Its hard to judge character over the internet.

Staff will not get involved with Politics unless there are rules being broken. I understand you want this to be one of those rules, but we did make it illegal to steal from the Townships you are a part of, we'd have a ridiculous amount of /pe's from players hoping for a Chest to show that a Citizen stole from them.

The only thing we'll do is give the Mayor any names of offenders that are Citizens. If they Griefed, we roll them back. If they stole, their fate rests in the Mayor's hands. (Most extreme - Kicked from Township)

It is illegal as far as I know, it's just not a server rule.

Citizens of KRS who steal from KRS towns and/or Citizens will be terminated with extreme prejudice, by our Mayor(s), King, or SiC's.

Join KRS, for a safer today, and a better tomorrow.

It's more like what brutal said.

However, if you have iron doors or other protections, then the town thief had to grief to get in. If said person doesn't fix it. THEN it's definitely illegal.

Yea but when they steal then quit the town, what can I do to them except hunt them down? The loot is in an lwc.

If the rules won't disallow this, then perhaps we need to think of another rule or game mechanic which will better allow us to deal with outlaws and the like.

Thinking caps, go!

wasn't there a player made town ban list? and with this concept of a un maybe those that harbor convicted citizen thiefs had a choice of either expelling the person or facing mass harassment. and who better to preform this mass harassment??? ORION!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!

Haha, I agree that this is pretty straight forward and sensible rule.

It would benefit the players who put time and effort into making a town, and punish the players who have put in zero effort and only intend to trololol townspeople.

But I don't think the admins will see it that way, they'll see it as limiting a players options. At least that's the only explanation I can think of to not make this a rule.

Hmm... Thinking has occurred, and I believe perhaps that banning baddies from your township is almost enough. Almost. Particularly when you come around to cooperation between towns. You have an incident, ban the offender, and spread it around so that the guy is basically hunted down when spotted within your kingdom or empire. From there, you stick his name up on your town blacklist, other people can refer to that and end up denying him access as well. So long as the habits get started, people may end up fearing expulsion from a portion of the server and simply not commit the crime.

On the other hand, it's pretty easy for those jaded types to simply disregard the consequences of such actions and avoid retribution. He may set up LWCs in the wilderness or join a township that doesn't care about criminals (or even encourages them to join). And from there? He could become a constant nuisance or do the same thing elsewhere.

Still, some form of authority should come with being a town leader. I'd like to posit a server rule stating that a citizen has to comply with a town leader's decision to punish you for something against the town's rules, so long as the punishments are clearly stated before the incident begins and aren't disputed as unreasonable. Fines, compensation, and temporary imprisonment come to the table. This is off the top of my head, but it seems like it would cut back on the petitions the staff would receive for commenting on town politics while providing a solid form of law in a town, instead of "hey guys, I'd really like you to follow this rule here".

Under this rule, I'd imagine town regulations looking a bit like this:

1. Basements may be 10 blocks deep. There is a fine of 3 gold or 30c for every block dug out beyond the 10-block limit.

2. Thievery is not tolerated. Anyone found stealing from another citizen will repay all stolen materials or their value in coin, and an additional 50c in coin or goods. Afterwards, the offender is temporarily removed from the town region and sentenced to an hour in the dungeon. Accusations may be discussed prior to punishment, potentially resulting in minimizing the punishment to willing reimbursement of the victim.

It would take some hammering out, but I feel potential here. Perhaps limit such authority to towns of a Kingdom or Capital cities...
