Hello, Im not a spout guide or guru or anything, but im a guy who used to have Java problems and sound problems with MC and spoutcraft, Heck the clients always said to me "download failed" or there was an error popup or it stopped responding, I tinkered around and found many solutions to many problems I have been having with Clients/ Spout craft.

If you take a moment and briefly describe your problem to me, ill aim to assist in any way I can :p

I get shit FPS and terrible lag spikes. Even with the settings far worse than normal MC.

Try putting the settings to "prefer performance" Close any background programs / apps you have including internet browsers and anything that basically runs and uses cpu, If you are on a laptop, go to battery settings and set it to high performance, (uses battery like heck though) And finally If all else fails, Put your render distance to "tiny"

Also, these may help a bit, but play with a small GUI setting and Do NOT maximize Spout, play it in windowed that covers at least 2/3 of your screen maybe even 1/2

Next thing i recommend Is press control + alt + delete and then start a task manager
then at the bottom it shows cpu usage,

In the bottom right corner there should be an arrow pointing upwards, hit it and close anything that may use CPU like torrents.

Finnaly AND HIGHLY NOT recommended is disable your anti virus systems, and then try playing to see any difference.

Hope this helps

Ill elaborate.

Normal MC, I run everything on fancy graphics, Normal fog, and smooth lighting. I get 60 fps, fluctuating down to 50 sometimes.

Spout I run it on Prefer performace, close programs, put the fog on small, 1% smooth lighting and get 30 fps droping to 20 and sometimes down to 10.

Not a laptop.

I don't need it, but I would love to play herocraft without it looking like garbage.

EDIT: weather is off, basically everything is at its lowest settings and it still runs like shit.

With regular Minecraft my CPU runs at about 60 degrees C. With Spout on and everything set to the lowest setting, I'm getting 600 fps but my CPU is running at 80+

Im guessing its not a laptop? Well my suggestion is get an additional fan, Spout craft is a client that is widely used by many server owners, it needs to be able to compensate. It uses power and increases core temperature because of all the files and all the code loops it has to process, its alot more than regular MC, so naturally it uses alot more power,
Additional fan maybe, Alternatevley to monitor CPU usage, Ctrl + alt + del and start task manager, at the bottom it should monitor cpu usage, Take results from both MC and spout and compare them, if they aernt much different then additional fan, if they are then spout should use more CPU and thus getting an additional fan is a good way to go.
