Bug Skill Interrupts (Such as Bash) not putting skills on cooldown.

Up until about 2 or 3 days ago, Bash, and other skills that interrupt other abilities (such as Impale or Kick) worked differently.

If I was fighting a Wizard and he was casting Bolt, if I bashed him during the "warm up" of the skill, it would interrupt his casting, and then put the skill on cooldown. This was the same behavior for Impale as well.

However, it no longer works this way. Bash and Impale will still interrupt the skill, but will no longer put the skill on cooldown.

Quite frankly, I'm not sure if this is a bug, or if this is working as intended. Can anyone else provide input on this matter?

*disclaimer: this post contains only my opinions/ideas, not the useful information input you asked for*

In my opinion, a cooldown should only be incurred upon a successful cast. That is the logical purpose of a cooldown.

For balance purposes however, I could see it going either way in the future.
What if Kick got a longer cooldown itself, and it DID force the cooldown of the interrupted skill to activate? And Warrior interrupts did not? That would add an entirely different way to think about facing Rogues versus facing Warriors for Caster specs.

Unless the skill goes off then it should not go onto cd. I believe that it has always been like this.

I only recently mastered a warrior class (Dragoon), but ever since I have mastered the class, it has been working as I described in my original post. It had actually been my only method of beating certain classes, such as DK's, Wizards, or Clerics. However, now that it no longer puts the skill on cd, I'm no longer doing so well against those classes.

I thought it was really cool that Bash functioned the way it had been, but now that it no longer works that way, I'm wondering if it was "fixed" or if it is now "bugged".

I'm not arguing that I should be able to kill other classes with warm ups by abusing bash and impale, but merely questioning the situation.

I can assure you though. For the last week (at least), Bash/Impale would place whatever warm-up ability was being used on cooldown upon successful interruption.

Like Macura said, Bash has never worked the way you described it. Nothing has changed in the past week except you.

That is wrong. I recall using it against even you, c12, in skirmishes several times. I also had several people confirm this within my own town. We tested it extensively with multiple classes and multiple players. It did work like this.

I have never tested this with you delf. I had no idea about this, and have never thought that a bash was creating a cooldown on my bolt casting. if it did, i'd cry

You asked, we answered. This has never been the case with bash, or any other interrupts. Interrupts do as the name implies and interrupt spells. They do not cause cooldowns to trigger from spells.

I do remember it did put the skill on cd if it was interrupted by a bash. Now it does not.

Bash or any interupting skills has never put warm-up skills on cooldown when it successfuly interupts.

While I think bash would be more devastating, that's not the way it is coded.
I have no clue about bash but as for kick, is it true that it puts skills on cd? For my extremely long ninja experience (probably the most experienced one on hc), I have found that whenever I interrupt a skill, my opponent would for some reason not use that skill until a while.

Because there is a silence and it takes a ninja 2 sec to kill a silenced caster?

I think its more of a "OH SHIT I CAN'T DO ANYTHING" kinda effect. So their next reaction is to get the hell away from you, not continue casting Bolt after the silence is up.
