Server status?

Is it just me or are servers not responding or was this a scheduled maintenance? I have not been able to log on for 2 hours so I was just wondering due to the fact I haven't experienced such a long server disconnect. Thanks a ton!

Are the majority of downtimes due to failed/updating MC code or host problems? I've rarely played on a hosted server that had so long and so frequent of downtimes. I've got to imagine there is a more reliable and still reasonably priced hosting solution out there? I'm not trying to flame or start something, really just curious how many of the troubles are host-related and how serious the discussions have been about switching hosts.
