Ranger/BM Discussion

Before I start I'd like to say I've only analyzed Beast Masters and Rangers.

Okay so from what I've gathered Rangers gain .35 health per level and can wear iron helmet and chain mail for the rest, they also do a whopping 8 damage from each spammed out shot. Now a look at Beast Masters. They gain .30 health per level (not much a difference i know but in the end it adds up) and the only chain mail they can wear is a chest plate leaving leather armor for the rest may i also point out their arrows do but 2 damage per shot (correct me if I'm wrong), and all for what you ask? 3 wolves that die from 2 spammed up arrows each and 2 more damage with an axe. If you ask me this is unfair.

Sorry for any grammar/spelling errors.

Both of these classes will be different in 1.8 so there is no point in bringing this up.

As of 1.8 arrows need to be held down and charged to determine how far they go and how much damage they do, so spamming them crazily is no longer possible because if you try they simply fall to the ground at your feet.

Due to that BM will be much better in 1.8 because they have the wolves to keep the enemy busy while they fire each slow shot. Rangers will be back to being how a ranger should. Someone that sits 100 blocks away and carefully snipes each shot out with a charged bow and does like 30+ dmg per shot for managing to hit a moving target 100 blocks away.

At least I hope the damage is decently high. Hitting someone from far away isn't easy, and as I said, spamming is no longer an option. Rangers will actually need to be able to use a bow like a pro.

Well thanks for the input but rangers having better armor and health still doesn't make much sense to me.

Wolves rip people apart, just because they are beaten by one spec doesn't mean its worth complaining about imo. Honestly as it is bows are ridiculous vs any melee spec without the ability to close the gap. Beastmasters may have a harder time versus people like rangers who can simply stomp the wolves but against most other people they are still pretty damn scary.

I see your point, lets hope bows require more skill after 1.8

and as I also mentioned I only examined BM and ranger no other class.

Rangers do 8dmg with a bow & arrow because they are meant to be a long ranged spec. Beastmasters only do 2dmg with a bow & arrow because they are a close-combat spec, not a long-ranged.

what'd be cool is if come 1.8, a ranger did more damage proportional to how far away they were from the target. so that a sniped shot would be worth it, and a high position would be encouraged
