Yeah, Minecraft has some problems with lighting... Are you saying the video is faked?
It looks pretty obvious to me how it's done...

If you notice the shadows at the back they suddenly shift, a simple pause of the video and a specific area to look at (Note how he always lined up to where all the pistons meet), change the block, stand on the point and then roll again

You guys do realize that he could have just switched the blocks using pistons in that conspicuous stone wall or the floor... not everything has to be a Chris Angle mindfreakingly fancy trick :/
