Bug Port Skill is Killing

i used the port skill and i was warped to the ceiling then i crashed into the ground and died, i dropped 1 diamond hoe and 10 red stones, when i tried to pick them up, they where gone, plz fix this bug so it wont happen again. im not asking for my items back, just for you to fix it. tnks

ah sorry i forgot, i used the port skill to warp to the spawn, then i died O_O
i was going to get my items back but they desapeared in front of me
