Obisidian

So for the past few days ive been mining obsidian. occasionally i will be mining a block, with no exposed lava near me, and i will catch on fire randomly. this has caused me to die once but is really annoying. this happens only with obsidian, can be prevented by putting myself in water but it still annoys me alot. anyone else having this problem?

think is spontaneous fire. if your with in 2-3 blocks of it you stand a high chance of being set on fire.

yea, it happens to plants (wood, melons, and etc) too.

Lava isnt exposed but it still makes sense.

I've only ever had it happen when I am crouching over lava making a bridge, which causes me to fall, which causes me to die. =(

that sucks. didn't kainzo turn off fire damage? thats why wood doesnt burn... or used to not

That's probably fire spread you're thinking of, which is a completely different flag.
I have seen someone's wooden logs burn infinitely in their castle, though. Not sure what was up with that.
