Boss Mobs! Lets talk about em!
Do you love em, do you hate em? Do they make the game better or worse? What's your opinion on the rewards for killing one, or anything else you enjoy or dislike about them.

Personally, I have a few issues with them, but thankfully they are new and hopefully still in testing. I do love them, however, as I feel they add a TON to the game! I can't wait to see them leveld out and toned town!

A 59k zombie, while leveling up on my own? Sure, I managed to kill the 4.7k zombie, and got 22exp in return and no drop. So, then I set to killing the 59k'er and lo and behold the nightly butcher killed him when he was around 46k.
What...

So, I got no drop, the same exp as a normal zombie, and my second try the server killed it for me and I got nothing.

And what items do they drop? I was told enchanted swords? That's pretty useless for me, seeing as I use hoes. Do they drop any other loot? Anything I can use?
And I understand: "You can sell the swords it drops", but doesn't that just flood the market with more enchanted swords and make any class that uses swords a touch more op then my own, or any class that can't use swords? Though, I suppose my issue there isn't about the drops as it is the imbalance between sword wielding classes vs other classes who cannot have enchanted weapons.


Those are just my experiences and opinions, not worth much but I thought I'd post em. Now I wanna hear what others have to say!

LOL that creeper. Yea, this must still be in testing. I'm sure exp will scale with difficulty, along with drops.

As for your concerns about selling the enchanted items, I believe things are about to get a lot more complex. Weapons will be quite specialized, so you won't have the market flooded with just Fire Aspect and/or sharpness weapons.

that 2 billion hp creeper though........

i LOVE the boss mob idea... adds so much to the game in my opinion..

Hopefully they will lower the amount of hp they have to the 4k-8k area and increase the drops to things like gold or diamond blocks, so everyone can use them and such

Other than that love it so much <3

That 2B HP creeper should just pop like a piñata and spew forth hundreds of enchanted weapons and gold ingots.

I love this idea! The experience should be proportional to health. If there is going to be over 150 times the health of a normal zombie then it should be over 150 times the amount of experience as a normal zombie. (Like over 3.5 k experience.) Otherwise if it gave like 500 experience it would be easier and faster to kill other mobs. That is, if they are just dropping experience. I think it would be better instead of having gold block drops, To have Runestones. Or with attributes they could have a chance of giving you more points to spend. They will take like 30 minutes to kill as a bloodmage G_G

XP needs to be directly tied to the health of the mob in my opinion. If you gain 22xp for killing a generic plain zombie with 300hp you should get at least 450xp for killing one with 6k hp. You could argue further that it has special attacks, and it does a lot of damage, but honestly I am betting with a bucket of lava and some good timing you could kill them quickly and easily. Now that being said, if they are lava resistant and you actually have to melee/spell it down, then you should get BossHP / PlainHP x4 or about 900xp for killing a 6k boss.

Problem with a proper reward for the bosses is if someone buys a 1000% xp bonus and kills a boss that's for 880 xp, well that's 880,000 XP or in other words, two players will level from 1-65 in a single kill.... So yeah, scrap the 1000% xp bonus ;)

As far as loot goes, figure it will more then half wreck any diamond weapon to kill one of these or take 30 bolts(30 gunpowder) to kill one so yeah a Gold/Diamond block and at least one random enchanted item with 1+ random enchants sharp, silk, kb, fa... seems like it would be good but not too good.

EDIT: Realizing 0 hours of sleep does wonders for ones math skills lol. I was multiplying by 1000 when it should have been 10, still 9k xp per kill but it's reasonable.

The hp issues are being worked out, it's an issue with the way the plugin was designed. Please note that if the plugin is /reloaded - it increases all hp of bosses by some insane amount, which is why you saw a creeper with 2 billion hp.

The EXP does not scale, its a set amount. There's an issue I'm trying to overcome.

This is in PLAY-TESTING and is not a finalized feature.

The exp ranges should be from 300 to 900, the scaling is 3-10 times the hp. This plugin added Heroes support but as you can see, we're encountering some very odd issues.

Also, @STDs4YouAnd4Me and I ran into a spider that had 3k health and the lowest we managed to get it to was about 1k before it healed fulled, every time. Even with more people I don't think we could have killed it.

Bosses have a chance to spawn with certain abilities, if it somehow manages to get 2 healing abilities, it will use them every 20-30 seconds. So you'll need to out-damage that heal.

Are they Lava immune @Kainzo ? I was not able to check last night?
They are immune to environmental effects.

These bosses will be great if/when Hero Drops gets integrated with it. In that way, we can finally obtain other enchanted weapons and specia drops.

I believe Kainzo said the HP is also supposed to scale with the number of players in the area. But it should also be influenced by the average player level of the area, or some variation of that.

What they mean is that currently only swords drop from the bosses (if they drop) what they are working on is makeing them drop other weapons, like the "spears" (shovels), hoes and things such as these. Else only the sword useing classes would benifit from the drops, which would unbalence the game some.

The Corruption boss plugin that we put in has a lot of issues, we're working on finding a replacement, asap.

Will that taste include enchants for non-sword wielding classes, to be balanced, or will it remain like this? :p
