As Necromancer I frequent the nether, Its a nice place I just have some small issues. So Ive created this thread to list the pros and cons of the nether and have even attached a nifty poll to boot.
Pros
Pigmen Do not aggro until attacked.
Pigmen drop gold ingots.
Ghasts can be killed by hitting back fireballs
Magma Slimes give excellent Xp
Netherwart can be farmed (used as base ingredient for all potions)
Glowstone is shiny and can be used to illuminate structures even underwater (also used for potions)
Blazes drop rods used to make brewing stands and also can be used to make potions.
Nether is Rarely visited by anyone so harvesting is pretty safe (minus the demon spawn)
Cons
Pigmen have 450hp and can kill with 1-3 strikes. Sprint after u and are immune to lava/fire
Ghast Fireballs Explode destroying blocks
Magma Slimes are really hard to find.
Most Nether-fortresses have been completely raided. (no netherwart)
Glowstone dwindling and closer to spawn the less glowstone to be found.
