Need help with font/alphabet creation

I'm probably in one of those retarded moods, but bare with me. I have been recently working on my novel and got this crazy idea to create a language for it. That's technically the easy part, I would also like to make a cool font to use along with it and its own unique alphabet.

If anyone has any experience with this type of stuff, I really could use pointers/help in any way. Also I have no artistic talent/programs.
