Super jealous.
My pc is crud cause one of my cooling fans is busted and it overheats constantly. My MacBook is a MacBook so it performs ok.

You're gonna kick some ass with that thing.

He didn't overclock ram lol. He overclocked his CPU, which you can do in the BIOS.
Bro,
Memory: 8GB G.skill RipjawsX (Overclocked to 1866 MHz)
Putting this here, cause why not?

Getting a bit off-topic for a bit: Windows 10 x64 and Java x64 has problems with resourcepacks, it causes severe slowdowns and possible BSOD (already happened to me) so I'm advising Windows 10 x64 players to switch over to 32-bit Java if you have my problem.

Edit: Nevermind, my problem was due to installing an older video driver that overwritten the latest one, just to try out GLSL. Rolled back to the latest and there are no problems.

If it's not rude of me to ask, total cost?

Damn I stand corrected, that's what I get for reading things late at night.....
And I looked it up apparently overclocking RAM doesn't really see performance changes unless you're working with video things, which makes sense.

It cost about 1200-1300 for pc and about 300 peripherals
Make it an official specification-sharing thread. BTW how do you overclock RAM? I'm interested.

Yes, I did overclock ram, first let me start by saying most BIOS settings will default to 1333 or 1600 no matter what speed your ram is rated. You must buy ram that is rated for the particular speed your are looking for. In my case I went with 1866 MHz. Check your mobo specs to see what speeds are supported. If you buy memory with XMP, you can just set the XMP profile in your BIOS and you are done. If XMP is not supported by your memory, you will have to manually set all the settings in bios. I would not suggest going above the rated speed of the memory. If you have anymore questions, let me know.

I wonder why mine is stuck at 798 MHz? Because it's to reduce power usage on a laptop? I don't think being single-channel affects it neither, but correct me on these things should I be wrong. New laptop has one free RAM slot but the bottom part is enclosed as a whole, instead of individual parts you can unscrew to modify, so atm I'm afraid I'll break the casing if I wanna pry it open to add an extra RAM stick.

That is probably the operating frequency, or the memory is not that fast. Check the specs of the laptop and see what speed the memory is.

Funny. Something is limiting the frequency of my memory stick. Nothing's modified on this laptop (other than I upgraded to Windows 10), never touched the BIOS yet.

You are fine, it is showing you what each stick is running at. 798x2= 1596 which is ~1600. Your memory is running as it should.
Look at my frequency. It is 933.2. 2 sticks would equal 1866.4. You are good.

No. I only have one 4GB memory stick, which is in itself, the stock specification. Unless if I am missing something important here/not understanding it.
