Does anyone else think its hard to use a mob spawner legally/roam and kill monsters with the hightened damage that monsters do?

That or Im jjust bad.

Yes, they run like a billion times faster then you and hit you for like 4 hearts, but then again, I am a Smith and don't have this problem. Unless I actually am attacked. -_-

Spec'ed classes besides crafters are pretty impossible to level. Im going to guess that most people have used spawners to where they can hit them. 100k in exp with monsters that give you 15-20 exp. It would take a month or so to level. And how are healers supposed to fight? they take out no damage. If you are going to make mobs so that even lvl 50 spec'd classes have trouble with them, then let us level by mining when spec'd too.

Creepers - pretty impossible to kill with a sword. You hit them, then next one, they explode before you are even with reach of hitting them again.

Zombies - Best chance to kill, run decently fast, hit HARD, take forever to kill one, and give you 15exp.

Skeletons - Range, so they usually can hit you once or surprise you when you are out in the wild.

Spiders..... The Worst! Run faster than you, and attack at a fast speed. They also jump at you, which makes them harder to kill without getting hurt. You literally have to kill them if they chase you. Or you die

Then you die once, and boom! There goes 10% of your exp.

Yeah, leveling is ridiculous at the moment...takes FAR too long to level which makes the game a mindless grind if you want to get those next skills. I tried to level druid a few days ago, but there's no way I can pull myself to kill mobs with my 5DMG gold hoe, it'd be a huge waste of time. And if i decide to team up with others to kill mobs, that's just giving me a fraction of the already high amount of exp you need to level.

I propose tuning up mob EXP significantly until the nether comes out, where those mobs should award higher exp. It will make the game more enjoyable for many people, and we would probably start seeing A LOT more pvp action against towns as a result.

I agree with Kris, I love the game but I was just recently banned for AFK lvling. Yeah I was an idiot for doing it but its so difficult to do it otherwise and it takes such a long time. I want to spend more time running around with my friends and killing people but we get out there and I die because I don't have the higher lvl abilities to help me out. So I'm stuck running around trying not to die from elite zombies skeletons spiders, with health being such a rare commodity, and also having to be apart of a town, constantly having to mine to help pay for upkeep and farm rare blocks for materials for the town. Making it so that mining would help level you up while speced wouldn't hurt anything. It would make players build more, allow for better creations, allow for more towns, allow for happier people, and less people desperately trying to level illegally because they simply don't have the time to do it otherwise.

Well im a healer(was, im druid now :p). If you grind skele spawner they give 30 exp and i can heal which is more exp and I used and iron hoe and it only took me like 2 months because for the 1st month and a half i didnt feel like grinding, and that 1/2 a month I only grinded an hour or two a day and not everyday. When I got to level 40 I tried mining someone said it was better and quicker, its not, I got to 50% in the time I could have leveled twice at a spawner, and with good spawner designs you can easily kill skeles but have a chance to get hurt so not illegal, with the room only being 2 blocks tall inside the arrows hardly ever hit you and they wont shoot you till they get really close. So its not that hard to level up IMO (though I do not see how the grandmasters/masters/those who seem to spec ever other day level so quick).

lol roba, you are only now a druid after 2 months of leveling on and off. You don't think that is a little ridiculous? You have 50 more lvls to go. Have at it

My main point is if they aren't trying to make it a grind they shouldn't make it so that you have to. You said yourself that you had to grind skeleton spawners. I'm going to assume that you did it with blocks in between you and with only a narrow window because they would have killed you otherwise. Ive been told that if your farming mobs from spawners it has to be an open area. they have to be able to hurt you too. For skeletons the ceiling has to be high because they have to be able to shoot you from a distance which means aiming high.

Back on point they talk about trying to make it so that you shouldn't grind and that you should just play the game and level up casually. Well if you did, it would take you a long time. I think raising the exp. that mobs give significantly would serve that purpose. People wouldn't go down and farm mobs because I don't know about you guys but running around mining things and raiding people I have to kill a decent number of mobs just to get around. I think allowing mobs exp. to be much higher would allow for much more casual play. Or make killing mobs outside more enticing. Make killing mobs away from a spawner 50% or even 100% more. Because its stupid to go out and kill mobs when one death could put you back 10-20 mobs. Make more places like the training areas and make the mobs there worth more exp. I think this would benefit everyone

Yea, its annoying to level. I find that going mining with 2 or 3 other people, and only being in a party with one of them allows you and the 2 maxed players to find the ores, and have someone mine them and split the xp with you. Takes about an hour or so per lv at around lv 40+. Currently im a lv 40 something cleric. Smite helps a lot and i don't really notice my low damage because of my healing ability. Man its ganna suck to lv a caster and rogue.

@kriskills: Spiders can't even hit you if your higher than them. There hitbox is basicly there face. So if you stand on a ledge or a hill they die fast.

Well I didnt have blocks in between I funeled them into a hall then hit them with my hoe till they died lol and there arrows were hitting the one infront of them so it wasnt hard and it was legal. But on topic I agree we shouldnt have to grind mobs to spec, maybe add a new way to get exp such as if you go to an event and survive till the end you get 10 levels? or just a giant amount of exp? Maybe also we could have small shrines scattered across the map like 50 or so but you have to either kill mobs from spawners to get to them or go through a lava maze or just the spell team dungeons there making again, but you can only go to each one once and you gain 1 level when you complete the task and get to the shrine? I suggest we make a thread for some thing about new ways to level any of you agree?

Im down with any new way to level. I enjoy harder mobs, but not when I have to kill them 7000 times to get lvl 50 spec'd.

I think a "Dungeon" type thing would be perfect, as if you complete the dungeon your party could get a set amount of xp and maybe one diamond or something for completing it, maybe have a giant as the boss that you have to kill at the end. This would promote team play as well make it a more fun way to level! You could get the server architects to design these "Dungeons" Then only reveal, say one, to the public, then allow other players to "Discover" The others, this would promote wilderness exploration!

I like the idea of a training area with decent mob xp. with more types of mobs than just skeleton/zombie/spider. Zombie pigmen and giants should have a semi rare spawn. But again, xp rates could just use a boost.
