For once EA has decided to do something pro consumer.
Starting from the 19th of August EA announced they will be granting refunds on any EA game bought on Origin that you haven't launched within 7 days of purchase or 24 hours if you have.

This could be interesting to see how Valve decides to respond to this (assuming they do)

How do people buy games and not play them? I don't understand XD
You could a game that was on sale on your phone when on vacation. Buy a game and internet/comp breaks. Game servers don't work (looking at you Sim City!). Buy a game and find yourself to busy to play it. Anyway, looks like EA is trying to improve their public image. I wouldn't mind seeing this policy on Steam, since Digital sales need to be more consumer-friendly in general.

Short and simple. Bundles
I have like 10 games on Steam I have never touched because I got them as part of a larger bundles of games. Example a couple years back I bought the THQ pack in the steam summer sale which I effectively got every game within it for about £0.50. There are a couple games in that pack I haven't touched :p

Well I suppose you're right. I got the Oddbox bundle on steam a few years ago and never touched Munch's Oddesy lol

One of the few reasons games on Steam are often so cheap is because they know you can't return anything you've bought. If Valve were to decide to follow suit we'd definitely see a decrease in the amount of regular sales started.

I do realise this but this is the reason EA have a review system for the refunds in place. This is to prevent people from playing a game to completion or there abouts and returning it before the 24 hours are up. This also prevents people buying during a sale and refunding after the price has normalised.

The above solves the issues with having both ridiculous sales and the ability to get refunds. Now there are other issues with Valve implementing this solution as they have far fewer support staff than EA does so they may not have the manpower to achieve this.

Valve won't respond to this, or at least i highly doubt they will. The catalogue of games on Steam heavily outweighs Origin's catalogue, so really there's hardly a threat to Valve, and in reality, this is just a move from EA to try and recuperate their public image! - plus im sure there is likely something in there that reduces the administration costs for EA too!
