Ok so yeah as mentioned in prior posts, I'm new to MC Multiplayer and HC. I'm quite familiar with macros from World of Warcraft and I have a fair amount of macro knowledge from MS Excel but how/where do you write up macros for MC? What is the format and can someone give me an example?

Are you using the HC Modpack by any chance? It contains a Macro Mod.

I only use this to run predefined commands, like /money, and /skill, but there is far more functionality with this mod. The creatior of the mod has created some tutorials on how to use this.
