Item Frame Wipe

On Saturday the 23rd of February we will be wiping all Item Frames from the map to remove all of the Framed Maps. This will reduce Server lag significantly, allowing you guys to have a much smoother play experience.

You guys have until then to retrieve any items you wish to keep from any item frames you have stashed away.

Its only the maps causing lag, correct? Why do we have to disable all frames if its only them

Because it's easier than trying o develop a system to disallow one item from being placed into frames, and allowing all others.

They already have been

Because we cannot just disable placement of maps inside item frames at this time.

There was just something nice about having a map of your town in your room. I really miss it.

Well, you could mod your picture files. Take a screen shot of minimap or the dynmap. Crop to proper size and then use it to replace one of the larger "painting" pictures. Since this would be a static picture, and just using a custom texture for a painting on your local machine, it should not cause any server lag.

Sure it has. Overall - we're staying at 20/20 TPS, using less memory.

There are spikes - but that is to be expected, at least until we can ensure all frames are gone.

Even then - if we reach 150 - there will be lag, no matter what. This is a single-threaded server process with over 5000-10000 entities. No other server runs a setup like ours so there's no bench mark.

We could easily jam 300 players into a 100x100 arena area and have a plastic server experience with no lag.
