I've been on other Forums where the first thing a newly appointed member can do is go ahead and put up an introduction to who they are and what they do. It gives us an opportunity to know who's new, and welcome new people into the community.
This'd be a good thing for proctors to add into their PMs to newly whitelisted players: "While you're on here, go ahead and get to know the guys and gals. Head over to the Members' Discussion forum, and click on Introductions. Make a new thread, telling us who you are and what you're like. Hope to see you on the server, and don't forget to ask me if you need anything!"
Aside from getting new people noticed, and getting them a bit more familiar with the forums, it'd probably be their first step in becoming regularly active on the forums. I see too many people who have inactive forum accounts, but play on the server regularly. I think it'd fit quite well under the Member's Discussion forum. Otherwise, it would probably slide in nicely right here in the General forum. I'd like to hear what opinions other people have on this, so tell me what you think!
