If you're anything like me, you like to either have control over exactly what you're running on your computer, you don't like bloated software that has stuff that you don't necessarily want, or you just flat out HATE Technic. Regardless, this is THE guide for you! Below, I'll be detailing the EXACT STEPS you'll need to take to get up and running with Vanilla Minecraft 1.8 and all the mods that you'll need!

_____________________________________________________________________________
1. If you have a .minecraft folder, delete it now.

2. Run Minecraft.exe. When it opens, choose EDIT PROFILE.

3. Under USE VERSION, pick 1.8.

4. OPTIONAL: For the JVM Argument (if you have a decent computer), click the checkbox to enable it. Yours should read as follows: -Xmx4G -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalMode -XX:-UseAdaptiveSizePolicy -Xmn4096M

NOTE: The green is what you'll have to change. Essentially the 4 means 4 gigs, so does the 4096...it's just the megabyte form of 4 gigabytes. For these two you'll have to change to something appropriate for your computer configuration. My computer has 8 gigs of ram; so I used a general 50% rule - in all honesty 4 gigs is probably overkill, but if you can, try for at least 2/2048 respectively.
5. Adjust your resolution if desired and choose SAVE PROFILE.

6. Click Play and allow Minecraft to download and start. Once started QUIT MINECRAFT.

7. Download Forge for 1.8 from here: http://files.minecraftforge.net/
NOTE: Run the installer and choose Install Client. Run Minecraft, then close it once it loads up.

8. Run the appropriate installer from: http://jenkins.liteloader.com/job/LiteLoaderInstaller/ to install Liteloader. IMPORTANT! When this launches, choose EXTEND FROM and choose the Forge option in the dropdown. Click OK.

9. Run Minecraft. Choose the Liteloader/Forge profile and click play. This will/should establish your 'Mods' folder in your .minecraft folder. When the game starts you should see a new liteloader tab on the right side of the window (this tells you what mods were/are loaded) you'll also notice that Forge is loaded as well.

10. Close Minecraft. Take a look in C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft
NOTE: If you can't see AppData, you need to enable 'View Hidden Folders' in your Folder Options. To do this go to your start button and type 'Folder Options'. The option you're looking for is in the view tab near the top.
11. You should see the MODS folder here...if you don't create it. ('mods')

12. Download the HeroMod from here: http://herocraftonline.com/wiki/HeroMod

13. Download the MacroMod from here: http://www.dl4.9minecraft.net/index.php?act=dl&id=1417363548

15. Place the three of these .litemod filesin your '1.8' folder inside the 'mods' folder in the .minecraft folder.

14. Download the VoxelMap from here: http://www.5minecraft.net/voxelmap-mod/
Place the .zip in the Mods folder (NOT inside the 1.8 folder).

16. Download Optifine from: http://optifine.net/downloads to install Optifine. You'll want the 1.8.0 version. Place it inside the 'Mods' folder. (NOT inside the 1.8 folder...just the Mods folder.) Run Minecraft and all of your mods should be running.

Click OPTIONS and go to VIDEO SETTINGS. You should notice a lot of new, wonderful video options to alter to your liking. A great video I found for optimizing settings to get upwards of 150 fps is here:

Once the game starts after clicking play, you should be able to see the MacroMod screen and you should see MacroMod, HeroMod, and VoxelMap listed in the LiteLoader tab!

17. As an added bonus get the resource pack that I use (OCD) from here: http://www.ocddisco.com/ocdpack/ It's a very clean, crisp resource pack that helps improve performance and looks goregous to boot (IMO). To install it go to your .minecraft folder and create a folder named 'resourcepacks' and drop it in. In Minecraft choose OPTIONS then RESOURCE PACKS. Click the arrow to move it to the right and then you're done!

I hope you all find this useful. If I missed anything or if you need help, please don't hesitate to ask!

EDIT: You can TabbyChat from here: http://mnm-mods.blogspot.com/2015/02/tabbychat-2-beta-mc18.html

With Tabbychat, make sure that you download the correct files and READ how to place them. I personally dislike TabbyChat and don't use it. Cheers!

Thank you for making this! I prefer to install mods myself and know how to do so, it's really awesome that you were willing to write this all up!
