I have a question about towns.

I keep coming across Towns that use no more to protect their land than dirt.
Some at the front door, and other Towns (like Jericho) use dirt to cover chests completely out in the open.
My question is:

Can we stop that? Now of course the hoarders are going to say "its imperative I keep all 30 stacks of cobblestone in case I need it" but lets be honest, too much protection effects gameplay. Ive come across other servers that use a respawn time on the blocks, allowing you to break the block, and it respawn in 5 seconds. Not sure how difficult the coding is on that one but I believe it would promote raids/war/battles, and thats why we're playing a pvp towny server right?

Maybe im the only one peeved by the indestructable dirt, but traveling 600 blocks to be stopped by dirt makes me sadface.

The main thing is, this isn't a PVP server. Yes it has pvp, but that isn't its focus. It's not realistic to spent 500c on every chest of items you have. If this were implemented, it could be made nearly impossible to build (dump all the building blocks that arn't in LWCs), it would force people to buy LWCs if they want to keep anything safe (unless they want to hide it), and make the only safe zones on the map spawn and graveyards.

The system of covering chests doors and what have you, in fact does increase the amount of raids that people participate in. Raids then serve a purpose to catch people with their doors, and chests not covered encouraging more frequent trips to a given town to get the goodies.
