WOO for dramatic titles!
So...

From the release of Dragongarde earlier today, having played it for hours on end, it seems a bit of an issue is heading toward us. That issue is people - Over 200 people were online today and it's only going to increase as the whitelist apps flood in and word of mouth spreads the server. This means, however, that resources will quickly become near impossible to find, even after map expansions.

Today alone the Communist Collective gathered huge amounts of gold, depleting valuables and making a small fortune. The effect would be enormous when 200+ users mine simultaneously for weeks, and the cap is expected to rise higher still.

So how can we solve this issue and deal with the doom that looms upon our banks and our mines? How can we save the Hero economy from collapse?

Post your suggestions on a course of action to be taken or multiverse features that could or should be implemented.

oh oh! pick me! Since there are no regions yet, get 50-60 players to agree on who to bully, then go wipe them out and mine their lands free of gold! Then when all the towns have started, you'll have all the gold! =D That wasn't the problem though, was it...

Kain has made mention of opening a resource map if the player amount stays very high. I like the dense playerbase myself. I walked all over the map last night, and every 10-20 minutes I'd have to stop and observe a group of players hard at work, and hope they didn't murder me! Unfortunately, I really doubt that we'll average 200 players at a time for long. The hype of a new map, and the advantage of an early start draws a lot of players. In a bit of time, we'll probably be back to 100 average. As for the potential 200-300 ACTIVE player problem, I say raid more. Attack, pillage, mug, be villains. Set up a dark overlord who can rule with a creepy eloquence that says "give me all your money!"

I've never really been for the whole multiple world thing; I want to see everything going on in our main world.

Right now the only real problem seems to be wild trees since they don't really grow back when you plant new saplings.

It was dealt with last map by (I think it was done this way, or was meant to be but never happened) regen-ing all the environment below a certain level or something. In terms of other resources, couldn't it be done the same way?

off the top of my head, i know that worldedit does allow that, but the problem that i can see would be if an outcast built an underground house right in the middle of a bunch or resources.

or if they regen'ed stone too then anyone underground would be screwed lol

Well I'm sure in that context, those areas that have been altered for man-made creations etc. wouldn't be affected - I'm sure all areas would be surveyed somehow or it would be recognized. If not, well.. I have no idea :p

@Shadow, the cap better not rise. If growth is off due to lag, there's no reason to increase the player cap.
