Help? Every time I connect to the Server My Minecraft Crashes

Basically, I bought a TP to spawn, did the TP, my entire screen went black and I had to force quit MineCraft. Now, everytime I reconnect I SEE can see where I am, but it immediately freezes and I have to force quit again.

Suggestions? I'm probably going to try to connect again after posting this, then restart my computer (hopefully that will solve it- that solves everything, right?) if it doesn't work.

Troubleshooting- if it happens on Spoutcraft - its something on his machine causing it or something java related.
Did you have something better to offer this guy?

ether you restart it (of course) or you take it to the shop, that is what id do

Taking it to the shop because you have a software error? ..... no.

Start small, then go from there - don't assume it's something before assessing the situation.

Having him try spoutcraft would help us decide on the exact issue at hand.

Is it a java issue?
Is it a vanilla minecraft issue?
Is it a hardware issue?

Notice how no assumptions were made and him doing something would lead to the solution.
