Bug Gold Sword Broke

From reading the wiki I am to understand the Gold Sword has the highest DPS.

I just tested this on a COW and had to hit the cow, literally 7 times to kill it. Far from any other sword's dps.

I don't even want to mention it's durability, which is a laughing stock of the community.

I am going to say this is a bug. Can someone confirm this or is this working as intended?


Give me a rock sword over a gold sword any day.

Passive mobs health scale just like hostile mobs, and gold swords only deal 4 damage compared to diamond's 7.
