Either this is a bug or a coding change, I'm not aware which. It was earlier reported in relation to Miner by @Yavool on June 23 - he noted the change after a restart. My notes here are on the assumption that things haven't changed since the last lot of data I saw on May 29 this year.
Most of the classes that I understand should gain exp from "crafting", do not.
SIDE NOTE: The introduction of the crafting recipe restrictions means many classes no longer have access to crafting exp. This might warrant a review of balance on this aspect.

- All professions except Enchanter and Farmer are supposed to gain exp from crafting.
- Miner and Smith should gain exp from specialist crafting recipes - ie diamond tools.
- The other professions (Alchemist, Engineer, Merchant, Runesmith) - should gain exp from Crafter level recipes - ie wood/stone/iron tools.
- ONLY Smith is gaining exp, BOTH for Crafter level crafting recipes AND for their specialist crafting recipes.
- Miner does not gain exp from their specialist level recipes - ie diamond tools.
