This is the best strategy game I ever played. Does anyone else know/play this?
It's more of a singleplayer game because multiplayer takes a long time to become actually fun.

Basically, you take control of ANY nation that existed between 1444 and 1821 (you can select the year you start in) and can basically do... Anything! Create colonies, conquer the world, become the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, make a global trade power, and much, much more :)

Examples of things you can achieve in EU4:

I've played this, started at EU III though and have since played the numerous other titles PI have. My favourite is CKII where I've put in plenty hours since its release. EU IV would be next in line and I've put in a decent amount of time into it too.

Meh, I have all the big titles from Paradox Games but EU4 is my least favorite. Too simplistic in terms of economy and diplomacy. CK2 is a much better game if you like EU4, but personally I highly prefer the more complex Paradox games such as Victoria 2 and Hearts of Iron 3.

After playing Vicky 2, HoI 3 and CK2, EU4 just feels like a more complex Civ 5. The blobbing in EU4 is just too much. You always reach a point where you will destroy everyone by exploiting the broken combat system, whereas in Vicky2 and HoI3 you always fight for survival and one diplomatic misstep can ruin you no matter how late into the game you are. Thus Vicky2 and HoI3 are much more dynamic in the way that every playthrough is different. Every EU4 playthrough feels like blobbing, blobbing and more blobbing.

Too bad EU4 and CK2 were extremely successfull in terms of sales compared to the older games such as Vicky2, so we probably won't see Paradox make another game in the same direction as Vicky2 which improves on its previous faults. Instead, we are getting HoI4 which appears much more streamlined and simplistic than its predecessor. Atleast mods still make Vicky2 interesting despite its age and faults.
