Hoppers are a vital part of engineering, they run our clocks, auto harvesters, drop towers and many other builds that make the profession worth having. I just came back from a mini hiatus and noticed the drop speed had been altered to the point where they almost aren't functional, after a brief chat in help topic I was told this was an intentional fix. Engineers already face numerous struggles while building complex machinery, building outside of a chunk can throw a clock off making an entire build worthless, the occasional server lag breaks redstone signals at crucial moments for our machines to function, and now hoppers are to slow to complete the job they were designed for.. As someone who's been an engineer the last 2 maps i can honestly say this change is hurtful to the profession in an entirety.

Thank you for reading my mini rant / opinion.

The problem is, with hopper speeds the way they used to be engineers make a better alchemist than an alchemist!

They were much slower and unless it changed, they had been sped up a little while ago (possibly around a month ago). It is intentional.

@CoolBeans279 With profession restrictions such as unable to even craft sugar an alchemist would still always have the upper hand. If anything it boosts the ingredients in price negating the fact that engineers were able to create auto brewers. In haven i would of understood how this could be problematic considering all materials could be crafted by anyone, now though i question it.

You can automate nearly anything with hoppers. Kain doesn't like that.
Be glad you have them at all.

As someone who donated solely for drop transfer it breaks my transfer case :p takes 12+ seconds for a hopper to drop an item. Lag server side has been amazingly low since the end of haven when the server was either moved or fixed though. :(

Drop transfer is extremely strong even without the ability to move things out of the chest efficiently with hoppers. Quit complaining that it isn't even more overpowered anymore lol.

It was 10 times slower... now its only 2-3 times slower, I think.

Either way, this isnt only for economical things, its for server-side lag too.
It's about 16 times slower in terms of actual transfer batches but it moves items in groups of 4 instead of 1 at a time so it works out to be about 4 times slower in terms of actual clearing speed.

Redstone automation was the main selling point for engineering. You could sell automatic smelters with ease. If our machines no longer work what's the point of engineering? Every other profession has a selling point it leaves us with lift signs.. Lol

Smelters work just fine. The automation is still completely possible it's just a little slower than it was before.
