Dying Chickens

This actually for some reason gets on my nerve.
I designed an automatic chicken spawner in the basement of my house that completely works except for one thing. You may have guessed it, the chickens die as soon as they spawn. I have the exact same set up in my SSP and it works in 1.8.1. Can someone tell me what's going on?

I have had a similar problem, only the chickens just disappear all at once and i am left with an empty farm.

Probably lag related. Also - at times a butcher is called to destroy all life.

We, however will not be butchering mobs after 1.0.0 update

They were confiscated by the man. Breakin' up your chicken smuggling operations

(sometimes when chickens are spawned in doors they have a chance of dying.)

They spawn nnow, however they suffocate in the wall. I am trying to devise a way to stop this.

Chickens have a funny tendency to kill themselves in walls... its quite weird..

They don't even create drops when they die.

I hate it when I am in my caverns and I see naked sheep!!! HE HAUNTS ME!!!

It must be the butcher right?
