Choosing Your Path: Why does it cost money?

I'm right now a class I really dont want to be, I want to change my class to another class but I don't have enough money to do so. It should be free to switch paths because you already have to go back to level 1 when you do so. This will also make people much more happy by being able to do so whenever they want. people can try a little bit of each class and see what best fits them as well. I really hope this gets put in because it will make the server more fun for people who make a wrong decision in their paths. :)

I really dont like it. I am a healer and i hate how it is right now because my heals are crap and kainzo said he was going to fix it but still hasn't. All that time i am not playing because i don't like the way heals are, I could be leveling up a ranger (i lvled to 50 on rogue and then switched before rogues got buffed) but i can't afford the 500 it would cost to go there and the 500 to get back. Its really stupid. It would encourage people to play more and allow for more deversity and happier players but no. I agree with you completely tony, but as good of an idea as it is it wont happen.

It would allow for more testing of classes and the players and coders and kainzo would be able to see how more classes work with each other and stuff like that, but it seems like they are trying to make this game more difficult then fun. I'm kinda getting sick of it

I dont see why they would think it would be better to be really hard to change classes. Its fun to see what class fits you.

Aka a total restart on hero's...

But the main reason it costs money is to prevent someone from mastering everything and just swapping Willy nilly.

A possible solution maybe would be a free swap to classes u r lvl 1 in and pay to swap back to a mastered class. That way it also wont feel like a punishment when u master a class and have to pay for a specialty

We're going to allow for newbie help by adding /hero delete - to allow you to go back to ground zero and not have any levels/exp/classes.

The cost is implicitly wanted to not have quick swaps, etc. The alternative was.... lose all exp on changes (like every other MMO out there :p)

% based heals arent working properly and we cannot release it as is. Heals are NOT crap - name one other class that can heal 15-20 pts of damage and just do it again after they regen mana ;)

So less negatives, mkay.

Yes we can heal. Kinda the point of a healing class. I understand that. but yea the heals are crap kainzo. I can't heal my friends quick enough nor myself quick enough for them to survive against ppl or mobs.

And a simple way to prevent quick swaps and things like that, is code a cooldown on respecing. it could be for a day or two days half a week and whole week what ever. I think that would prevent any problems concerning people who would switch back in fourth depending on the situation. You would be allowed to switch to another spec or class every X amount of time. if you have mastered the spec then you would be able to go back to it when u wanted just so long as your cool down was finished. I honestly still dont see why this isn't an option and why you are so opposed to it.

What I mean by the heals is that warriors have survivability which is good, casters have spells which are awesome, healers have heals which were good once and at a very balanced place and now aren't. That is my only point concerning heals

Any timer that is added to the server slows it down. They ran into this when working with replaceable block exp values, and have been resistant to adding more timers than needed.

Healing skills simply haven't caught up to the health value modifications yet.

While I sympathize with people who don't like where they are and want to respec, there are only so many options that will keep things in control. If you absolutely hate it, looks like the /hero delete would be the cheapest option. Yes you'll lose your progress, but the point is that you don't like what you have anyway.

I am a master Cleric, and it takes more strategy to balance your mana and heals, but I am able to keep myself alive and a friend alive during a 2v2 fight long enough for my heavy hitting friend to kill at least one person, then the remaining person usually runs. After the fight, if there is a break, I can heal us both back to full. Strategy is essential, and maybe you should hug the safe zones until heals are changed.

Kainzo just announced a new revamp of HP, and this post is also a request that heals be remembered when the change occurs, although I am sure they are going to be.

Eventually, all will be balanced. Namaste.

Just since the above post was talking about it, am I the only one that thinks it should be a heal over time deal?
Heal your friend once, he'll gain small chunks of hp every second for 5 seconds, meanwhile you focus on other stuff like staying alive or helping to wear down the enemy?

I agree with the heal over time, although, I think it would be better if while they were being healed over time the enemy can interrupt them from gaining more health by hitting them.​
