Can redstone and command blocks replace plugins in the future?

With all these new snapshots, so many new additions to command blocks, redstone, adventure mode, etc, a lot of the spells and custom crafting is possible in vanilla. Do you guys think everything will be possible in vanilla eventually? If so, maybe when the plugin API comes out we will see many new features on HC...
