Only black wool works for banners, but all wool colors are supposed to work for them as banner background.
Nothing more to say about it since everything else seems to work fine.
Everyone can craft banners too.

Correct me if I'm wrong or forgot anything to mention.

- You can "bypass" the black background by using colored shapes/patterns for your banner in the meantime, to get the background color desired, of course only to a certain limit.
