When we first join, are we allowed to do anything before we apply? I cant seem to access anything, not even crafting tables, which is really annoying :/

You can break blocks and pick up items on the Ruins map if you aren't yet whitelisted.
You get to Ruins via the Nexus (portals area) on Haven. There's a portal to the nexus just by the spawn pool, which is at 0,0.
